In celebration of Valentine's Day, met with author Julie Allen at the C of C Bookstore Sunday afternoon and watched the great parade of life on King St. second Sunday. Most people brought their dogs with them. We saw labra doddles, great danes, golden retrievers, corgis and many others. Everyone was in a great mood with the mild weather and springtime atmosphere. A great day for all!

New Subscribers and Writer’s Conferences

So happy to have new subscribers! I want to let everyone know about the First Baptist Spartenburg Christian Writers Conference to take place March 9 and 10, 2017. I have attended the conference in the past and met agents, editors, and other writers who have helped me along. It is a very affordable conference with as early bird special (by February registration) of only $125.00. There will be all sorts of great classes for beginners as well as experienced authors.
There will also be a great conference in Black Mountain in May. This is the Blue Ridge Writers Conference held at Ridgecrest.

Baily Steals the Show

When I wrote Abbey's Tale published by The Wild Rose Press, I only had a minor role for the lovable black lab that belongs to the lighthousekeeper. But fans love him and I must admit that he just started going things I never anticipated in that take charge doggie way. Mostly, a cat lover, even I was won over by Bailey, and he almost takes on the role of therapy dog when Abbey goes teach at a school for the blind in Boston. People sometimes ask me if I outline the entire plot before I write a book, and the answer is definitely no. I have a good idea about the characters, their situation and how it might end, but I love the way the characters come to life and take on a dimension of their own and Bailey certainly did!
